FAQs
What is WAN PARTY?
WAN Party is an IP transit co op that operates similar to an Internet Exchange. Its mission is to enable start up ISP’s and similar tech companies that need access to easy and affordable connectivity to the internet. The difference between us and an IX from an IP transit perspective is we offer:
Full BGP Routes + IX routes
Option to default route to us
No AS Required
Routed IPv4 subnets available
1/10/25/40/100Gbps ports available
What problem does WAN party Solve?
Many small service providers are often building/buying the same stack of services at the colocation facility closest to them. This includes things like:
Dual 10Gbps IP Transit connections
Colocation space
Dual cross connects from the datacenter to each IP transit provider
IX cross connects for peering
Transport cross connects to their POP’s
This ends up costing each small service provider many thousands of dollars, or even more in some markets. In addition, most of these resources aren’t efficiently utilized either, providers end up with extra bandwidth, colocation, etc.
As a result these costs often become a barrier to entry in which case many small providers end up trying to cut corners which leads to downtime and reputation damage in their most vulnerable years of business.
How will WAN party Solve this problem
WAN Party’s will solve this issue by creating partnerships with organizations that have extra resources at their disposal. As we grow, this will allow the co op to invest in its own infrastructure to ensure success for all of its members.
If a small provider is currently paying $4,000 a month for all of the aforementioned services, we estimate we can reduce these costs to as little as $500 in some cases without compromises.
